A pair of cups that's made to be together. Wheel-thrown porcelain, painted by hand.
Each stroke is painted in one go, with no going back once the brush touches the surface. The blue and clear glaze layers blend together once the cup is fired.
Each cup features a framed figure in blue: one male, one female. The figures are inspired by two 1890s monotypes by Maurice Prendergast, 'Lady in Red' and 'Children in Red Capes'.
On the other side of each cup are lines from an Ezra Pound poem, 'The River-Merchant’s Wife: A Letter': I desired my dust to be mingled with yours Forever and forever, and forever
The cups are sold as a pair. Each cup is approximately 8.5 cm tall and 8.5 cm across (12 cm including the handle). Trimmed flat foot and signed underneath.
