Hi, I’m Anja!

A geo-biography
I was born in Poland, raised in the USA, and now live in Canada (in beautiful, livable, and often-snowy Montréal).

Research credentials
I have a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology from Northwestern University, a B.Sc. in psychology from McGill University, and was a postdoctoral research fellow in cognitive neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania.

There’s no fun like work
Over time, my research has moved from the lab to the real world. I love to see the immediate impact of my work and to help build a better future.

In my consulting work, I specialize in optimizing people’s experience in physical environments and integrated digital - physical environments.

I’ve done applied research on questions like:
How does access to daylight and view impact office workers?
Short answer: It helps! Daylight and view improve workers’ cognitive function, increase satisfaction, and reduce eyestrain

And academic research on questions like:
What are ways to help people retrieve useful examples from memory?
Short answer: Label the examples! Labels help when first learning examples and later, when retrieving examples.
